In 1865, Charles Reuge, a watchmaker from the
Val-de-Travers, settled in Sainte-Croix and began making pocket watches with musical movements. In 1886
his son opened a "music box" counter in Sainte-Croix which eventually evolved from a basic workshop to a
real company. In 1930, the Reuge factory was built in Sainte-Croix and is still in existence
today. And, in 1960, Guido Reuge began the manufacture of large musical pieces, persuaded that the
music box movements has a future in the luxury gift market.
Reuge music boxes represent
some of the finest, most elegant music boxes on the market. One of their signature music boxes
imitates the harmonious song and the synchronized movements of birds. In their classic music
boxes, the musical movement is dressed up in magnificent wooden boxes with delicate inlays; for the more
contemporary items, it is housed in very up-to-the-minute designs and new materials.
For that very special person, you can't go
wrong with a Reuge music box.
